The business areas of our consumables re-export is primarily Africa, with some percentage going to Europe, USA and Asian nations.
GENERATOR MUST BE 3-PHASE & TO BE MOUNTED INSIDE A BUILDING.EXHAUST SYSTEM MUST BE SUPPLIED WITH CONNECTIONS, MOUNTING PADS, BRACKETS, PIPES & FITTING WHICH ARE REQUIRED WHEN INSTALLING THE GENERATOR. THE UNIT SHALL HAVE AN EXHAUST SILENCER FOR VENTING OF EXHAUST GASES TO BE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. THE SILENCER WILL BE EXTENDED FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BY AN APPROPRIATE LENGTH OF STEEL PIPE. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM SHALL BE LAGGED BY A SUITABLE INSULATING MATERIAL. THIS GENERATOR WILL BE USED ON A STANDBY POWER PLANT FOR A DIGITAL TELEPHONE EXCHANGE. THE PLANT MUST CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING;
• 20kva, 400v, triple P+N+E diesel generator set & accessories
• switching panel complete with bypass switch
• service tank
• starter battery complete with battery charger
• alarm & supervisory interface
• associated cable interconnections.
• the alternator shall be capable of supplying various types of loads, with at least 50% of its rated output available for rectifiers (high frequency switch mode type)
• the diesel engine set shall comprise of a diesel engine, an alternator, a control cubicle, a starter battery charger & fuel supply system
• the plant shall be compactly designed of robust construction &built for continuous duty
• the diesel engine set shall be mounted on a common heat-treated steel base plate of robust construction, rigid enough to maintain alignment of the plant. the flywheel must be accurately balanced & the engine & generator shall be direct coupled
• spring-loaded or rubber-bushed antivibration mounting shall be provided for installation under the diesel engine set bed plate in order to minimise vibrations transmitted to the building.
• all exposed rotating element must be provided with protective guards for the safety of operating personnel & to prevent damage to the set from extraneous objects
• labels shall be stuck to indicate to personnel hot parts of the equipment to prevent burns & injuries
• it shall be made possible to place an oil drip tray & drain below the engine to keep the engine room floor free from oil
• the AC plant offered shall be guaranteed to provide a continuous output of the rated kVA/kW capacity at 0.8 pf lagging, 400 tripple phase, 50Hz at 1,500 rpm
• indicate the noise levels, both acoustic & radio, of the power plant offered, and the conditions under measurement
• the engine shall be heavy-duty type, four-stroke cycle, compression ignition type, with a fully reliable lubricating system
• the engine shall be required to drive the generator at a constant & closely regulated speed of 1,500 rpm irrespective full load within a certain time limit which shall be stated. the speed governor shall be preferably be pneumatic hydraulic type, and the speed regulations shall be maintained within ±2.5% or better
• the engine & ancillary equipment shall be continuously rated & capable of continuous operation for 2,000 hours without maintenance attention. you must state/detail the minor maintenance effort to be carried out after each period of 2,000 hours continuous running
• the engine shall be fitted with an axial type starter motor, batteries & leads. it shall be able to start reliably after standing idle for 1,500 hours. cold electric starting is preferable. the starter batteries shall be rechargeable by a fully automatic solid-state battery charger. facilities for both trickle & boost charging shall be provided
• the engine shall be fitted with a dry sump lubrication system using a large reservoir with adequate supply of oil for 2,000 unattended hours of operation. the reservoir shall have a means of measuring the oil level, addition of oil while the engine is running shall be possible
• lubrication shall be by force feed, with adequate oil temperature control
• water-cooled engines are required. the cooling system shall be effective where ambient temperatures vary between 50C to 500C. an AC electric heater (with thermostat & manual switch) shall be fitted to engine cold starting. the heater connection shall be on the mains side. the cooling system shall be equipped with a sufficient number of thermometers & a by-pass water filter
• the engine must be protected against low oil pressure, high temperature, engine under/over speed, under/over voltage. the stop fuel solenoid shall be fail-safe energised when engine running. protection devices should give visual & audible indication & shall be extendible
• fuel & oil filters should be heavy duty, full flow type with replaceable elements
• drainage of the sump must be easy to accomplish
• air filter shall have large capacity & shall be suitable for use upto 2,000 hours/more without attention, and preferably reusable
• the engine instrument panel shall incorporate the following meters & controls: oil pressure gauge; tachometer & oil temperature gauge
• the exhaust system must include a residential type silencer of suitable length. the exhaust must be lagged using suitable insulating material. a flexible exhaust pipe section shall be fitted in the exhaust line directly after the exhaust manifold. the flexible pipe & joints must be leak-proof & capable of long service
• state the fuel consumption ( litre/hour) at 25%, 50%, 75% & 100% of full load at 0.8 pf lagging
• a drain plug must be provided at the bottom of the tank for draining off sludge or water
• a fuel level indicator must be fitted to the tank in a clearly visible position
• the service tank must have a float switch incorporated, which shall provide a low fuel alarm (extendible) at a pre-determined level (1/4 full level)
• the generator must be brushless, low reactance, self-exciting, self-regulating, screen-protected & drip-proof. it must be fitted with heavy duty long life & self-aligning bearings (two) which are lubricant-packed for continuous long service without attention. reliability is of paramount importance & need for maintenance should be as low as possible
• the deviation factor in the AC waveform shall preferable be less than 5% and under no circumstances shall it exceed 10%. cyclic irregularity shall be maintained below 0.3%
• radio & television interference suppression should be to within international standards/recommendations
• the regulated output voltage of the generator shall be 400V AC ±5% three phase, at 50Hz ±2% and 1,500 rpm
• the generator must have neutral terminals earthed within the generator terminal box, to the frame & external earth connection
• the generator must incorporated protection against failure due to low speed operation & sudden short circuits
• all meters shall have an accuracy of ±2% or better
